FAQs

What is Sculptra? How does it work?
Sculptra, or poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), is a unique injectable treatment that harnesses the body's natural healing process to stimulate our own collagen production. By encouraging collagen synthesis, Sculptra helps restore volume and improve skin quality over time. Sculptra gradually leads to beautifully natural-looking results as the skin rejuvenates from within.
How much does it cost?
$995 per vial. We typically recommend two vials per session. The number of sessions is determined by your age and anatomy.
What is the downtime? Can I go back to work afterwards?
As with any injectable treatment, there is a risk of bruising. With Sculptra, patients may experience swelling in the areas treated, which typically subsides in 3 days. We recommend planning for this accordingly. We recommend avoiding strenuous exercise and inversions for 12 hours following your treatment, which may increase the risk of bruising.
When can I expect to see results? How long do results last?
Due to the biostimulatory nature of the treatment, results can take up to 12 weeks and typically last up to two years.
Does it hurt?
We numb the area with the strongest numbing agent available to minimize any pain. While some soreness can be typical post-treatment, pain or discoloration is not normal. Please alert us immediately if you are experiencing pain or discoloration following your treatment.
Who is a good candidate for Sculptra?
Those who have lost a significant amount of facial volume may be good candidates. This includes patients who have lost weight or experienced natural volume loss from aging.
What areas can be treated with Sculptra?
Sculptra can be used to temporarily restore volume and contour various facial areas including the midface and lower face.
Can I receive Sculptra while pregnant or breastfeeding?
No, we do not treat pregnant or breastfeeding women. Visit us when you're ready—we'd love to help you with your postpartum beauty journey.
What are the pre-treatment guidelines?
• Avoid alcohol, NSAIDS such as Aspirin, fatty acid supplements and high-sodium foods 24-48 hours before and after your treatment as they may increase the risk of bruising and swelling. Please consult with your primary physician prior to discontinuing any medications. • Avoid dental procedures two weeks prior to any filler procedures. This can stir up bacteria which can affect filler treatments on or around the mouth. • Beginning an Arnica supplement two or more days prior to treatment may help minimize bruising. • Alert your practitioner if you have a history of cold sores––an antiviral medication may be prescribed preventatively. • Please book treatments for a special event a minimum of two weeks prior to the event. This allows time for any potential redness, swelling or bruising to dissipate. We recommend coming in for a consult well in advance of a special event so we can create a long term plan together for best results.
What are the post-treatment guidelines?
• Safety is our number one priority. While some soreness can be typical, pain and discoloration is not normal. Please alert us immediately if you are experiencing pain or discoloration following your treatment.Use Tylenol as needed for soreness. Avoid NSAIDS like Advil as they may increase the risk of bruising. • You may experience temporary redness and swelling at the injection sites, which typically resolve quickly • We recommend avoiding strenuous exercise and inversions for 24 hours. • Avoid intense heat such as saunas for 72 hours. • Avoid dental procedures two weeks prior to any filler procedures. This can stir up bacteria which can effect filler treatments on or around the mouth. • Avoid any type of facial massage or face-down massage table/chair for 10-14 days. • Please note, it can take two full weeks for swelling to completely subside. Oftentimes, swelling may appear uneven throughout the subsiding process. This is your body's natural response. If you are not completely satisfied with your treatment after two weeks, please let us know. We recommend waiting a minimum of two full weeks before adjusting any Filler treatment.
